Yakitori chicken skewers

Quick and easy recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1kg boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Bunch of spring onions
  • Vegetable oil for cooking
  • Sesame seeds to serve

For the Yakitori Sauce

  • ¼ cup sake or rice wine
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp mirin
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar

Method

  • Mix all the sauce ingredients together.
  • Cut the sping onions into 3cm batons and cut the chicken into 3cm cubes.
  • Marinade the chicken for 30 minutes in 2/3 of the sauce.
  • Put 3-4 pieces on skewers with the spring onion in between each piece.
  • These skewers can be cooked either under the grill, on a barbecue or in a heavy fry pan.
  • Drizzle with remaining sauce before serving and top with sesame seeds.
